The reality of real estate tech: key takeaways from RETCON 2025

Written by Kateryna Kupriienko

Following our experience at RETCON 2025, where Proxet was a sponsor, we're sharing insights into the technology landscape in the built world and how our custom software solutions are transforming real estate. Last week in Las Vegas, we talked with industry leaders, fellow sponsors, and attendees–all focused on innovation in the built environment.

If you missed RETCON this year or maybe had a bit too much fun in Vegas, here's what you need to know about the real estate tech advances discussed at the event:

Digital transformation gap: AI buzz vs spreadsheet reality

During RETCON, we spoke with many attendees and heard a range of challenges. Despite the buzz around AI, many organizations — both large and small — are still running critical operations using error-prone, non-scalable spreadsheets. The positive is that leaders are recognizing this is a roadblock to scaling growth. And while some are struggling to gain internal support for technology upgrades, organizations are getting better at highlighting the need for clear communication and strategic alignment when implementing new systems.

The continuous innovation imperative

Many organizations underestimate AI's rapid development pace. At RETCON, technology leaders emphasized that companies making regular, incremental improvements are consistently outperforming those implementing major overhauls every few years. Success comes from creating a culture of ongoing refinement, not always a complete system replacement.

Continuous Improvement Framework

Planning paralysis: the data platform strategy gap

At RETCON, we also noticed strong interest in data platforms. Many firms are in early planning or implementation stages but struggle to define clear data strategies and desired outcomes. Without this strategic clarity, many projects struggle to gain momentum or deliver measurable value.

Additionally, some attendees shared that vendors typically advertise complete transformation of their “data chaos” into structured, clean data ready for insights but in reality, these solutions often cover only part of the process, requiring organizations to complete the remaining work themselves.

At Proxet, we understand the full data lifecycle. We don't just build dashboards. Proxet handles every stage of your data maturity journey, from collecting and correcting your data, to normalizing it, and ultimately, building the custom applications that put it to work for your business.

We understand client challenges, from poor data quality to manual processes, and deliver end-to-end solutions that reduce errors and enable better decision-making. Read our case studies to get a better insight into how technology can reduce operational costs and make better, faster decisions.

Companies of all sizes don’t have it all figured out

Our participation in the "Keeping Up With Funds" panel, featuring Gabriel Safar, Proxet’s Head of Real Estate Solutions, highlighted the use of data and technology for investment decisions. The discussion confirmed that even large organizations are still working through their data strategy and execution. (Shameless plug: Proxet is a valuable partner in developing and implementing effective data strategies!)

Looking ahead:

RETCON 2025 provided insights into real estate technology. We're continuing our work: building on connections and knowledge. Thank you to everyone who contributed to RETCON 2025.

We're excited to continue the conversations at Realcomm on June 3-4 in Savannah, Georgia.

If you'll be attending, we'd love to connect at the event and discuss new tech opportunities for the built world. If you're not going, feel free to book a call with us to explore how Proxet can help you transform your real estate technology strategy.
